The automated assessment protocol is designed to enhance the accuracy and reliability of visual acuity evaluations. It intelligently selects the appropriate chart type—whether symbols, HOTV, or ETDRS SLOAN Letter charts—tailored to the patient's age.

Upon completing the assessment, the application presents detailed results for visual acuity for each eye and at various test distances, reported in both Snellen and logMar units. Furthermore, it calculates false positive and false negative rates, as well as an overall reliability score. If the patient demonstrates "unreliable" responses during testing, the application appropriately indicates this status without providing a visual acuity measurement.

The user experience is notably efficient, with a streamlined process consisting of the following steps: [1] select the patient’s age; [2] present the device screen to the patient and prompt them to read three letters from top to bottom; [3] after all responses are received, turn the device away and indicate each response as correct or incorrect; [4] swipe left to right; [5] repeat as necessary. The application guides users through specific instructions related to testing distance and eye coverage.

Importantly, this application does not collect, store, transmit, or retain any user data. To maintain a record of results, users are advised to take screenshots of the result screens for their galleries.

For first-time users, calibration of screen size is necessary to ensure accurate presentation of chart letters. This simple process is only required once.
